Delta 2.0b5 Reaches Feature Complete (New Skins + Custom)

Delta 2.0b5 is now available for Patreon beta testers. This update marks the feature-complete stage for Delta 2.0. It adds new customization features, better controller support, new audio controls, and several quality-of-life improvements.

Animated Controller Skins

Delta now supports animated controller skins. Button presses can display animations during gameplay. The beta includes a new animated Game Boy Advance skin created by Caroline Moore as a demo.

Key changes

  • Animated button press effects
  • Support for animated skin files
  • New animated GBA controller skin included

Redesigned Controller Input Mapping

Delta replaces the old controller mapping interface with a list-based layout.

The new design makes it easier to assign buttons for game controllers and keyboards. Users no longer need to map controls directly on the controller skin.

Benefits

  • Faster controller setup
  • Clear button assignment
  • Better keyboard support

Adjustable Game Screen Position

Users can now move the game screen while using a physical controller.

Long-press the game screen and drag it to a better position. This feature helps users who play with controllers that cover part of the display, such as the 8BitDo FlipPad.

New Audio Settings

Delta adds new options for handling audio from other apps.

Users can choose one of these modes:

  • Mix with other audio
  • Pause other audio during gameplay
  • Use Silent Mode to hear only background audio

These settings give users more control over their listening experience.

Quality-of-Life Improvements

The update also includes several usability improvements.

New additions

  • Custom Fast Forward is now a standard feature.
  • RetroAchievements is now a standard feature.
  • Online Multiplayer moved to top-level settings.
  • Bulk save state deletion is available.
  • The Home and Resume buttons can be moved to the top of the Pause Menu.
  • Favorite games now sync automatically across devices.

Community Feedback

Early community responses highlight the adjustable screen position as one of the most useful additions. Several users also praised the new audio settings and requested future features such as per-game controller mappings, Nintendo DS screen resizing, shader support, and Nintendo 3DS support. Developers confirmed that some requests are under discussion but are not part of the 2.0 release.

Release Status

According to the developers, Delta 2.0b5 is the final beta before the Release Candidate. The public App Store release is expected after the Release Candidate is complete, although no exact date has been announced.
